Nov. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Nordea Bank AB Chief Executive Officer Christian Clausen said there is a “match” between his lender and Swedbank AB, and that his bank plans acquisitions, the Norwegian newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv reported.

“I am not surprised that Swedbank is put forth time and again as a good match for Nordea,” Clausen told the newspaper. “Everyone who looks at our books sees that there is a match.”

Clausen didn’t tell the newspaper whether he had considered a purchase of Swedbank. Nordea has bought two Danish banks and is ready to make purchases in other countries as well, Clausen also told the newspaper.

Swedbank spokeswoman Anna Sundblad and Nordea spokesman Rune Sjohelle both declined to comment.
