Zendaya’s Race Isn’t a Factor in ‘The Drama.’ That’s the Problem

A theme that’s something borrowed and will give you the blues.

There may be a worthy film to be made that traces the fallout from a biracial Black woman’s confession that she once planned a mass shooting at her high school, yet never went through with it — particularly in a society where school shooters are overwhelmingly male and often White. Such a story could explore intriguing questions about what might specifically provoke a Black girl to want to do this.
