Babybel Maker Buys Brainiac to Grow in Kids Fruit, Veggie Snacks

Bel Group, which makes Babybel cheese and other grab-and-go fare, has acquired a line of fruit and vegetable snacks to expand in the growing market of healthier options for kids.

The family-owned French company, which is expanding in the US, has bought Ingenuity Foods, including the Brainiac and Little Brainiac brands of applesauce squeezers, berry fruit snacks and pouches of fruit and vegetable blends, according to a statement on Wednesday. The deal value was not disclosed, but Ingenuity’s leadership will continue to run its operations, the companies said in the statement.
